Biotin is manufactured in the body by intestinal bacteria but dietary intake is required to achieve sufficient levels to maintain health. Biotin deficiency can cause seborrheic dermatitis. This is called cradle cap in babies and also occurs in adults with lots of dead skin and a rash around the scalp with excessive oiliness and dandruff.
